Athena the Labrador

Yesterday we re-homed a lovely dog called Athena as her owner’s son sadly developed an allergy towards their pets. She went to an amazing fur-ever home on a huge farm, where she joined a pack of 6 farm dogs. Anyway she has settled in really well and her new owner text me this morning to let me know how she had settled in… Well let’s just say, she slept on his bed all night.

We still have Athena’s friend to rehome who is a beautiful red Cocker Spaniel, she is female and has not been spayed. She has just had her annual vaccinations and health check. She has also been wormed and treated for fleas.

See pictures below of Athena the yellow Labrador in her new home and 2 members of her new family (black Labradors) and also a picture of Goldie who is still looking for a new home.

Review from Shara’s owner

I am writing to thank you for looking after Shara over Christmas and New Year, (although I personally find it difficult to leave her in kennels as i miss her so much) Shara  on the other hand really looks forward to coming for a rest. She has stayed 6 times to date with 2 more holidays booked. This time her driver arrived I could hardly hold on to her lead as she ran and jumped in the back and sat ready to go with a smile, she came back to us soft and shiny and smelling like she had just left a beauty spa, I am so happy to have found such a great holiday home for her.

Kindest regards Celine and “Shara”

Using DAP at Home and at Elmtree Luxury Pet Hotel

What is DAP?

DAP stands for Dog Appeasing Pheromone.

It is one of the simplest, quickest and easiest ways to calm & reassure dogs and puppies in stressful situations such as leaving the owner, finding a new home, being alone at home, travelling, and going to the vets & boarding kennels.

DAP synthetically mimics natural pheromones that female dogs provide for their puppies, giving them a sense of wellbeing & reassurance.

How does it help kennelled dogs?

It is such an easy way to provide extra care for dogs!

DAP contains an analogue of the natural canine appeasing pheromone which helps comfort puppies and adult dogs in situations they may find worrying, or which make them apprehensive.

Available as a spray, plug-in or collar – the choice depends on the dog’s needs and which environment it’s to be used in.

Exciting News from the Manager!

Over the last few months we have eagerly been waiting to receive some exciting news from The London Borough of Broxbourne Council.  Finally yesterday we had our planning permission through for our new site in Theobald’s Park Estate and works will start next month to build a fantastic new luxury boarding facility that will continue to offer the best boarding services in the UK.

Initially the new site will just be an overflow for our current site based in Hilly Fields Country Park, it will consist of 30 luxury kennel suites and a beautiful Crufts like training centre. The site in Burnt Farm Ride was originally a kennels and cattery owned by Bill Meredith who was well known as the game keeper for the estate and its shoot. His partner Bobbie ran the kennel & cattery business for many years and built up a thriving business that is still talked about to this day for proving some of the best boarding facilities of its time. There are currently 26 kennel / cattery and storage buildings but these will all be knocked down to make way for our 2 new buildings. The large site of 9½ acres has its own 4 acres of beautiful woodland and this will be transformed into a fully enclosed woodland exercise facility, with paths for the dogs to run and play in a natural but safe environment.

The interior kennel design has not yet been finalised but the kennel suites will definitely be of a luxurious design. The outdoor exercise facilities will be exciting and mentally stimulating, filled with agility equipment, swimming pools and grass land as well as our exclusive woodland area. The site will have accommodation for up to 8 members of staff who will provide care throughout the day and into the night. I have now personally moved house to our new site to oversee the works, fortunately the new site is only about a 4 minute drive away from our site in Hilly Fields.

We plan to have our new site open in approximately 1 year and I will keep you all updated on an open day. Watch this space for more updates on our new site.
